Is periodontal status associated with cognitive impairment?

According to a group of researchers, cognitive impairment and periodontal health are related. They discovered that people with mild and moderate-to-severe periodontitis performed worse on two of the three tests than those without the condition, indicating decreased cognitive function.

According to researchers, people who have dementia need special care, and once they have been diagnosed with dementia or cognitive impairment, they should undergo a dental examination and, if necessary, dental treatment.

They issued a warning, noting that it was possible that people who had cognitive impairments tended to have poor oral hygiene and oral health.
