The influence of COVID-19 Outbreak on Iraqi Dentists

Every aspect of life has changed since the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) first appeared in Wuhan, China. Due to their frequent contact with potentially infected people, dental professionals are among those at high risk.

In order to evaluate the stress, awareness, practice modification, and economic impact on Iraqi dentists while working during the outbreak, a group of dentists conducted a study.

According to the study’s findings, more than 80% of participants had developed anxiety about getting infected with COVID-19. Younger dentists and females had higher recorded levels of anxiety. These dentists showed high levels of awareness and practice of COVID-19-related precautions and infection-control measures (94%), which were statistically significantly influenced by age and qualification.

Concerning the economic impact, regardless of demographic factors, about 75% of practitioners reported that their income had decreased by about 50%.
